It was my honor and privelege to drive Mrs. Kash in the King Park St. Patrick's Day Parade for the celebration of her 100th Birthday. We had such fun driving and talking. She kept asking if she was doing the "Royal Wave" correctly. People would look at the sign on my car and then at me and say 100??? I would yell back..No..not me and she would yell ME!!!! I'm 100!!! It's ME!!!   She told me stories the whole time about her life here in Kings Park, her children and mostly her daughter Anne. She talked about how she lived with Anne and what good care she took of her. She said how she used to worry about what would happen to Anne when she was gone, but now she realized that she would be all right. "She obviously knows what she's doing...look how she takes care of me. She'll be all right." We stopped on the corner and the whole town sang Happy Birthday to her. It was beautiful and she really enjoyed it.  I will miss her next year at the Multiclass Reunion. She came every year and "held court" with her Margherita in hand. She would greet her former students...most by name.....and enjoy taking pictures with each of them as they recalled their years in Kings Park Schools. We will certainly remember her next year at the Reunion and toast her with a Margherita....or two!!! Rest in Peace Mr. Kash.

What can I say???
Mom was a lady, she was caring and thoughtful. Cared for those were not accepted by others.. She always had some cute saying at just the right moment too..like this one:
The wise old owl lived in an oak
The more he saw the less he spke
The less he spoke, the more he heard
Why can't we all be like that wise old bird!

And with that...I will say...I have NOT learned to do that. Hopefully some day I will Mom!

It has been my honor to provide you with love and care all these years. I kept my promise to you:
No nursing home and not dying in a hospita. Youwere at home with me and family and friends.
Watch over your babies left here on earth...and enjoy your spitiual life in heaven with those up there.
Love you Mommy

Anne

Story shared: headache http://claytonfuneralhome.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/105315/runtime.php?SiteId=105315&NavigatorId=954778&ItemId=2763591&op=tributeFamilyStories&viewOpt=dpaneOnly&gid=story6636327 One night we all went out to dinner as a family and I had an awful headache. Mom was mad because I was complaining and granny noticed. She said "Come here baby", I leaned my head in closer to hers and she just started to rub my hair. She told me she was going to take my headache away. Just being next to granny felt like love. We sat there like that for a few minutes. The weird thing is, is that she actually took away my headache. All she did was hug me close to her and it was like nothing else mattered because my granny loves me. I loved granny more than anything and I will miss her forever. I know I will never be alone, she will always be with me.

Story shared: Our Mom and Granny http://claytonfuneralhome.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/105315/runtime.php?SiteId=105315&NavigatorId=954778&ItemId=2763591&op=tributeFamilyStories&viewOpt=dpaneOnly&gid=story6636204 What to say about such a bright light in this world, Eunice Ford Quinn Kash.

She was born March 7, 1916 in Gaffney, South Carolina. She is the thirteenth child of Sherman and Johanna Quinn. Sadly her mother died of the Spanish Flu when she was two years old. Candice, her oldest sibling graduated around the time Eunice was born so between her 12 brothers and sisters and her Dad, moving to town from the ‘Big Farm’ Eunice had a lot of guidance.

She graduated Appalachian Teachers College in 1938 and started teaching in Georgetown, South Carolina.

Eunice and Warren married on February 17, 1945. After Dad’s service in the Coast Guard ended Eunice, Warren and their first child Anne, moved to New York City.

Some years passed and in 1962, the family now including Warren, Sharman and James moved to Kings Park. Eunice taught 5th grade at Indian Head Elementary School and substituted at all of the Kings Park District schools.

Eunice moved back to South Carolina and to Florida for a few years but then returned to Kings Park.

She was a member of the Lucian Memorial Methodist Church on Main and Old Dock Road. She had a great friendship with Reverend Al, many of the church members and pastors, past and present. In her later years she loved working at the Thrift Shop in the church and used her light to brighten the day of many who were customers and volunteers. There are so many, over so many years, I cannot name them all here, a testament to her life. Mom ‘Granny’ made many friends where ever she was. I think how difficult it must have been to outlive so many groups of friends but, no sadness, because of her light she made more or rekindled an old friendship without losing the love for those who have gone.

I am truly blessed to be her daughter and I know my sister Anne and brother, Warren feel blessed. Our brother Jim went to the Lord this May and without any doubt, all of us know he felt blessed to be Eunice’s son. Walter, our closest and dearest family friend, ‘The Good Son’ blessed in Eunice’s light.

Ok, now for the business, Eunice’s children, Anne and her children, Pete, Jennifer and Anne (and spouses) and 7 great-grandchildren, Warren and his wife Ruth and their children, Jordan and Alison (and spouse) and 2 great-grandchildren, Sharman and her husband Slavko (Pop) and Kubo the latest of 5 Dobermans, James and his wife Donna and their children Julie, Michelle and James (and their spouses) and 10 great-grandchildren and his wife Cheri and her children Ashley and Karlee.I purposely do not include last names for privacy.

Eunice would recite the poem ‘Come Little Leaves’ by George Cooper every Fall for us and we would love if you would join us with your children very Fall.

Come little leaves said the wind one day.

Come down to the meadow with me and play.

Put on your garments of scarlet and gold,

For the summer is past and the days grow cold.

There are so many ‘Eunice-isms’, the pearls of knowledge she would toss out to us that to pick one is very difficult, so here are a few. The one that keeps coming to mind is ‘The Golden Rule’, treat others as you would have others treat you. Then, ‘Fools names and fools faces often appear in public places.’, and of course ‘The Golden Years’ that she read at her 100th Birthday party.
